An M.2 drive is priced by capacity alone — NVMe or SATA, Gen3 to Gen5, any brand. A 1TB M.2 pays $62 today and a 2TB $112. Bigger drives pay more per terabyte, which is the column on the right.

Reading an M.2 drive
- Length. The four digits on the label or listing are width and length in millimetres: 2280 is 22 by 80mm, the desktop and most-laptop size; 2242 and 2230 are the short drives in compact laptops and handhelds. Every length prices the same.
- Key. The notch in the gold edge. An M-key drive, with a single notch, is almost always NVMe; a B+M-key drive, with two, is almost always SATA.
- Heatsink. Leave it on or take it off — it does not change the offer. If it is glued on, leave it on.
NVMe or SATA M.2?

Before it ships
Wipe it if it still works, and pack a bare M.2 in an anti-static bag with padding on every side — the connector edge is what gets damaged. Our free mailer has what you need.
