Which desktop DIMM do you have?
- DDR5 — 288 pins, labelled PC5, as in “PC5-44800” or “PC5-5600B”. It carries its own power chip on the stick.
- DDR4 — also 288 pins, labelled PC4, as in “PC4-3200AA-UB2”. The notch sits in a different place from DDR5’s, so neither fits the other’s slot.
- DDR3 — 240 pins, labelled PC3, as in “PC3-12800U”.
